$85.7 million gated retirement community slated for Tradition
Port St. Lucie – Senior Living Communities, an owner and operator of retirement communities throughout the Southeast, has announced plans to build an $85.7 million gated retirement campus in Tradition.
Waterford at Tradition will have 300 homes on 30 acres, featuring 70 South Florida-style cottage homes, 142 condominium villa homes, 26 enhanced-living villas, and a combination of 56 assisted-living units, skilled-nursing beds and Alzheimer's units.
The campus will offer a wellness center complete with indoor and outdoor pools, healthcare clubhouse, a putting green, full-time wellness coordinators, and a grand central clubhouse. Each single-family home also comes with its own golf cart.
"We're thrilled to begin this community," said Donald Thompson, president and CEO of Senior Living Communities. "The high-quality development of Tradition is true testament to the thriving atmosphere and vision of Core Communities and the City of Port St. Lucie."
The community will employ 120 people when it opens in April 2009, eventually growing to 180.
The project requires zoning approval from the city, expected to be reviewed later this year.
