Commercial Division of Development Company Announces Intention For All Future Projects to be Green, First Developer on Treasure Coast with LEED Accredited Professionals
Core Commercial Group, which manages many of the retail and commercial projects in Core Communities' Florida and South Carolina master-planned communities, announced today its intention for all future commercial development projects to incorporate green design principles.
"Core Communities has long been recognized for its commitment to environmental stewardship, placing great importance on protecting the natural environments in the communities it develops," said Andrew Favata, Executive Vice President of Construction/Operations for Core Commercial. "By taking an active leadership role in green design, we are further cementing our commitment to responsible commercial development."
Green building principles incorporate numerous aspects of construction and Core Commercial will utilize designs that focus on energy efficiency, water efficiency and indoor air quality. Specific practices include: recycled building materials, energy efficient equipment and lighting, healthier air quality and site practices that reduce stormwater runoff.
Core Commercial has also become the first developer on the Treasure Coast and the fourth in the state to have the expertise of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) on staff. Two of the company's project managers, Leon Camarda and Howard Ehrsam, earned the title LEED AP after passing a United States Green Building Council exam. As LEED APs, Camarda and Ehrsam possess an expertise in green building practices that will enable Core Commercial to integrate green design into all future projects. Camarda was additionally elected as Chair of the Education Steering Committee for the Treasure Coast Branch of the South Florida (USGBC) Chapter.
